Privacy Policy

This policy explains what AuctionBuddha.com collects, why, and the choices you have. We've written it in plain English.

Who we are

AuctionBuddha.com is an online marketplace and auction platform operated by AuctionBuddha.com. This Privacy Policy applies to the website and the services offered through it. By using the site, you agree to the practices described here and in our Terms of Service.

Information we collect

We collect the following kinds of information:

  • Account information — your name, email address, phone number, and password when you create an account.
  • Profile & bidding details — billing/shipping name, mailing address, and phone you add to participate in auctions or check out.
  • Listing information — for vendors: shop details, item descriptions, photos, prices, and categories you publish.
  • Auction participation data — the bids you place, items you win, and related activity.
  • Purchase & order history — items you buy or sell, order status, and invoices.
  • Payment-related information — billing details and, if you save a payment method, the card type and last four digits and expiration. We do not charge cards on the site or store full card numbers (see “Payments” below).
  • Messages — inquiries, offers, and messages you send through the site.
  • Technical information — IP address, browser type, device information, and basic log data your browser sends automatically when you visit.

How we use your information

We use the information above to:

  • Create and manage your account.
  • Process orders, invoices, and auction participation.
  • Provide customer support and respond to your messages.
  • Manage vendor accounts and listings.
  • Detect, prevent, and investigate fraud and abuse, and keep the platform secure.
  • Understand basic, aggregate site usage so we can improve the service.
  • Send you service messages (for example, order updates and account notices).
  • Send marketing and newsletter emails about new listings, auctions, and news. Newsletter subscribers opt in through our signup form; if you create an account you’re included by default. Either way, you can opt out at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email or your account settings.

Cookies and tracking

We use only essential cookies needed to sign you in and keep you logged in securely. We do not use advertising cookies, third-party analytics trackers, or marketing pixels. For details, see our Cookie Policy.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed to run the platform:

  • Service providers we rely on to operate the site: Supabase (database, authentication, and file storage), Brevo (transactional and marketing email), Anthropic (the AI feature that helps vendors draft listings), and Netlify (website hosting). These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms.
  • Between buyers and sellers as needed to complete a transaction (for example, a seller receives the order and fulfillment details necessary to ship or arrange pickup). To protect buyer privacy, we limit the buyer identity information shown to vendors.
  • Legal and safety — when required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or the public.
  • Business transfers — if the business is sold or reorganized, information may transfer as part of that transaction.

Payments

We do not process card payments on the website. Orders are completed by invoice: sellers (or AuctionBuddha.com) send payment instructions, and payment is arranged directly. If you save a payment method to your profile, we store only the card type, the last four digits, and the expiration date for your reference — never the full card number.

Your rights and choices

You can:

  • Access the personal information on your account — most of it is visible and editable under your account settings.
  • Correct inaccurate information from your account settings, or by contacting us.
  • Request deletion of your account and personal information (some records, such as completed transactions, may be retained where required for legal or accounting reasons).
  • Opt out of marketing emails using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email, our unsubscribe page, or your account settings. Opting out of marketing does not stop essential service messages.

Children’s Privacy

Our website is not directed toward children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take reasonable steps to delete that information. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us at our contact page.

Data retention

We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and secure, managed authentication. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date and version above and, where appropriate, notify you.
